What is Integrative Therapy?
We all process things differently and as an integrative therapist I understand how various therapeutic approaches work best for you as an individual with your own unique challenges.
I use a variety of strategies adapted to meet your indivdual needs, drawing from a person-centred foundation whilst also incorporating CBT, NLP or positive psychology techniques. This means I can focus on issues using evidence based strategies to cover a range of differing circumstances.
The 'person-centred' approach to therapy is central to all talking therapies and is based on three core concepts: that as your therapist I am genuine, non-judgemental and empathetic. I fundamentally believe that human beings aren't flawed or broken. We might be feeling stuck or overwhelmed, unable to see the wood for the trees and just need a little help finding our way out of a difficult situation.
What is Positive Psychology?
You may have heard the term "positive psychology" but you're not quite sure what it is. This is a fairly new psychological approach (established around 2011) which focuses on the scientific study of human thought, feelings and behaviour. This approach is used to build on our strengths and apply proven behaviours that support our daily health and emotional wellness. One of the many advantages of working within the field of positive psychology is that it tends to work solely with strategies that have been scientifically proven to work!
What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy?
Also known as CBT, this technique uses various strategies and processes to challenge and change unhelpful thinking and behaviour patterns. By combining cognitive therapy (the way we think) and behaviour therapy (examining the things we do) you can become aware of the negative or distorted perceptions you may have about yourself or a situation. Together, we can change those misconceptions and learn new ways of responding to specific situations or to your life in general.
CBT is useful for many issues, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, anger management, negativity from the past, relationship issues or obsessive compulsive disorder. I can help you decide if CBT is the right therapy option for you.

In-person individual counselling session for a 50 minute session. (Allow at least 1 hour for our first session together so that we can have a chat about what we want to accomplish.)

Couple Therapy 90 minute session. By using a combination of person-centered and positive psychology techniques, you can discover who you are as a couple, understand how the past influences the present and learn new ways of communicating
